THEATRE

Background / Extra Casting

Then there's the background work, of which I've done a bit here and there. I've worked with the beautiful Barbara Niven (Chesapeake Shores), Catherine Mary Stewart (I knew her from Days of Our Lives fame), Linden Ashby, Dani Kind, John Bregar (Degrassi) on my first film, which was cast through Ilona Smyth at Smyth Casting. In "Dead at 17" I was a funeral guest. You can see me sitting in the church pews and briefly as I exit in the line of people leaving the church. Funny story, I was once in a hospital waiting room and looked up and this was the movie which was playing on the television.

In another movie "A Sister's Revenge" I am in a restaurant scene in the background of the two main actors, and in another "The Perfect Boss" I'm in a mansion at a cocktail party running up the stairs with another guest. It was fun to work with Michael Gordin Shore, Sean Tucker, Ashley Jones (True Blood), Kate Drummond (Heartland), Brooke Burns (Baywatch), Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp), Jamie Luner (I knew her from an 80s TV show Just the Ten of Us) and Ashley Leggat (Murdoch Mysteries), amongst many others in those Lifetime movies.

A few years later I worked on a film "Hit By Lightning" with Will Sasso (really funny comedian), Jon Cryer (always Duckie to me and singing Otis Redding in a record shop with Annie Potts watching on), Jed Rees (Galaxy Quest!), Donna St-Jean, and Jodi Larratt as a few names you may know. I'm in two scenes in that one - at the wedding dance (filmed at Rockcliffe Park) where I am on the dance floor and again at the bookstore for a book signing, which I found ironic in a way - as I am usually on the other side of the table signing books (as an author). The bookstore scene was filmed at the beautiful Librairie du soleil in the Byward Market, Ottawa.

Here are a few photographs, stills, and behind-the-scenes peeks from me doing background (extra) work on movies (sometimes it's a "blink and you'll miss me" moment, but even extras make up the scenery. I had to find a few of them online through Tubi to catch a screenshot.

I'm in the IMDB (Internet Movie DataBase) as well if you want to see where to find me on the screens:

Fantasy Village

For the time working on Cornwyth, I was quite used to hanging out in the forest ... and you meet all sorts of folk in the forests ; ) While attending a few events in Ontario at the campground known as Whispering Pines, I was part of filming a Fantasy Village scene directed by Laurie Stewart and David Friend. I was a peasant woman and my daughter was also part of it. This was in 2012, if I recall. It was pretty cool - I worked with a guy dressed as a grim reaper who had a flaming scythe! It was pretty intense when lit. If it gets released to video, I will post a link. For now, here are a few moments where I am seen.
